Pets are heartbroken when their parents go on vacation without them, but all is usually pardoned when their human comes home. However, forgiveness doesn’t come easy for one golden retriever.
Finn’s owners went on a three-day vacation and had the audacity to leave him behind. While three days to humans is not long, in a dog’s timeline, three days can equal weeks. The National Canine Research Association of America reported a full 24 hours is equivalent to seven doggy days. Therefore, in Finn’s eyes, three days without his parents meant three weeks.
Owner Carly told Newsweek via TikTok that Finn hates it when they leave but is excited when he sees them. And as soon as the excitement wears off, he holds a grudge, as seen in the May 1 TikTok video posted to the account @fluffyfinny27.
Finn was sitting on the couch, fully showing off his frown. His hurt eyes screamed: “How dare you leave me?” His dad even tried coming in for a kiss, begging for Finn’s forgiveness, but he was met with attitude. Finn was “not over it just yet.”

It didn’t matter how many kisses Finn received, he was holding his ground to express his hurt feelings. He even barked to warn them he was not over the betrayal. The owners wrote in the comment section that he was “absolutely livid.”
Luckily, Finn stayed grumpy for only about an hour, Carly said. And there is one trick to get him out of the funk: treats.
“He forgave us later on once he had a few treats and some sausages,” Carly said.
While dog treats are a no-brainer when asking for a dog’s forgiveness, owners can also smother their canines with extra loving words and snuggles. Dogs might not understand the words, but they will understand the tone of your voice and body language.
